The Manor at York Town is home to The Manor Singers - a group of more than 20 residents who share their musical gifts through song. The Manor at York Town is also home to Dr. Helen Kemp, volunteer director of The Manor Singers, acclaimed musician and teacher, and inspiration across generations.
Helen has developed standard musical instructional videos, been the
subject of documentaries and received numerous honors including the
Elaine Brown Award for Choral Excellence by the American Choral
Directors Association of Pennsylvania.
"You don't stop singing because you get old; you get old because you stop singing" is Helen's motto. She shares her gifts with many, working with local high school choruses and teaching and encouraging her fellow residents to sing with her.
Helen lives a vibrant, active life. She starts her day with excercise classes, dines with friends, and regularly takes in an evening movie. Most importantly to her, the den of her apartment is home to her piano where she plays and composes every day.
Helen is an inspiration to many and a treasured member of The Manor at York Town family.
